Here in my place, several of my co-citizens have heard of cryptocurrency, and the curiosity of others who want to try was all of a sudden changed due to the bad news they watch in the news instead.
But the thing is they see a lot of negative in the mainstream media here about crypto scams, so instead of the image of cryptocurrency become good it turned into bad things,
So if anyone is really interested in trying this, it must come from ourselves that you really want to do it, and that is where your interest is, you really want to study it no matter what negative things you hear.
There are always this group of people who feel comfortable by watching from the sideline, the oberthing in everything. It's not the mainstream media or social media that is holding them back.
There are many job opportunities, business opportunities that pays in crypto. Crypto is no more an investment but an alternative currency beside the mainstream fiat.

I agree with what you said that cryptocurrency can no longer be considered just an investment these days but can also be used to send money to other countries where we have acquaintances, family, and so on.
And as for business, it probably depends on the country we are in because here in our country, there are other places that accept it but most are not really that saturated yet.
